I just felt that I had to defend her. I mean I will defend her my whole life, but there are sometimes when you just have to throw something in there to show people hey, look she is not as bad as you think.
haha I actually have no idea where this rant came from. It is nice to let out a little rant once in a while though. I get what you mean totally. It made me mad in history class how we didn't even go over her life, we only went over her infamous supposed "Let them eat cake" line, and her execution. I got mad and at question time I threw in a lot and people were like Wow, I didn't know that. I feel bad now. I was like exactly. My professor was quite proud of me.
Being a pre-service teacher I’m quite proud too! It’s hard to voice your opinions to a class, especially when those opinions mean so much to you. It’s nice to know that there are people defending her!
I totally agree with everything that you said!! History books can piss me off. The only book I can really handle without getting angry at is Marie Antoinette The Journey. Yes, there are tons of things to talk bad about MA and AB with. That is why a lot of people don't really give them a chance. :/
So frustrating! I at least entertain people’s differing opinions on the subject, just because I respect everyone’s opinions by nature. I can see that they’ve only been shown the tip of the iceberg on the subject and I have this desire to show them the rest. However, they have to prepared once opening the door for discussion! I will educate to the best of my ability in hopes that maybe they see it differently, if not sympathize just a bit more. I’m not really one for forcing my opinions on others, but I think everyone should know the extent of both sides before sticking with one!
I have nothing against anyone owning it, as long as the person is someone like you, who respects the situtation, which I know you do. :) I am beginning to get a little better about the infamous "Let them eat quote" but it still sometimes bothers me when someone says it to me, just to get a reaction out me, because they know I will say something about it.
Oh I agree. there will be plenty of people who don’t sympathize or care to education themselves further on the situation, but I think we all know that’s what makes defending our girls that much better! I avoided history books because of their blatant disregard for the royal family’s situation (granted the entire country was starving), but I was always taught to see things from both sides. Just try not to let everything get to you because there is plenty of bad things to say about her and Anne =[.
have you ever thought that maybe you are so obsessed, because you used to live in that time?
just a random thought :)
Somewhere within my twisted little dream world, I feel as if I lived there in another life. Would be pretty cool, huh?? I know so many other people who have an affinity with a time period, and I know there has to be some kind of connection!
